When did Stonehammer become a member of the Global Geopark Network?

Stonehammer became the first Global Geopark in North America in October 2010.

How many other geoparks are there in the network?
There are 89 Global Geoparks in 27 countries throughout the world.

How do we retain our Global Geopark Status?

Every 4 years, each geopark will undergo a stringent auditing process which will allow each member to retain or lose their geopark status.  Stonehammer will be evaluated in 2014.

How does this status benefit Southern New Brunswick?

The Global Geopark Network plays an active role in economic development. It aims to increase tourism numbers into the area through domestic and international sources. Additionally, working with educators and the community to increase awareness about our Earth is a key priority of Stonehammer.
